Position description

The Location: Seaside location, Mediterranean climate, Western Australia About the Role: The Specialist (Anaesthesiology) provides safe, high quality anaesthetic clinical services and assists in the provision of direction, service planning and clinical governance to the Anaesthetic Team, Pre-Admission Clinic and High Dependency Unit including the oversight of unit staff including GP Anaesthetists. The Location: The city is a seaside city in Western Australia. It's famed for Gorges, diving, tropical islands, fishing, with panoramic views, walking trails, sculpted gardens and white sandy beaches. The Hospital: The Hospital & Health Service provides public health services across Central Western Australia, in hospitals and in the community. The Health Service is a statutory body governed by our Board. We serve a growing population of approximately 250,000 people and employ more than 3,700 staff, treating more than 700,000 patients each year. The health service has a diverse geographic footprint, ranging from regional cities to remote townships in the west and beach side communities along the coast. Selection Criteria: 1. Demonstrates extensive experience in the provision of anaesthesia for a full range of surgical procedures at a tertiary referral teaching hospital standard. 2. Sound knowledge of current specialty practice in anaesthesia and recent experience in an acute hospital setting. 3. Recent experience in obstetric anaesthesia at a tertiary referral hospital standard. 4. Demonstrates the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team of medical, nursing and allied health professional staff. 5. Demonstrates effective communication skills in dealing with patients, their relatives and professional colleagues. 6. Demonstrates commitment to quality patient care by participation in peer review and quality improvement activities or programs. 7. Ability to undertake research activities. 8. Demonstrates the capacity for effective teaching
