Specialist/Consultant Anaesthetist

The Location: Adjacent to the World Heritage Great Barrier Reef About the Role: The Consultant/Specialist (Anaesthesiology) provides safe, high quality anaesthetic clinical services and assists in the provision of direction, service planning and clinical governance to the Anaesthetic Team, Pre-Admission Clinic and High Dependency Unit including the oversight of unit staff including GP Anaesthetists. The Hospital and Health Service (THHS) The Health Service provides public health services across Central Queensland, in hospitals and in the community. The Health Service is a statutory body governed by our Board. We serve a growing population of approximately 250,000 people and employ more than 3,700 staff, treating more than 700,000 patients each year. The health service has a diverse geographic footprint, ranging from regional cities to remote townships in the west and beach side communities along the coast. The Hospital:The Hospital offers a range of general and specialist inpatient and outpatient services including emergency, general medicine and surgery, basic orthopaedic, clinical investigation, obstetrics, maternity, gynaecology, high dependency and coronary care, palliative care, medical imaging, pathology and paediatrics. Additional services include Mental Health, Alcohol and other Drugs Service, oral health, physiotherapy, dietetics, speech pathology and outreach/community-based facilities. These positions support the Emergency Department and inpatient units providing anaesthetic and obstetric services as well as general inpatient services. The Hospital also has full time specialists in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Medicine, Surgery and Paediatrics. The Opportunity:Provision of the full range of anaesthetic services including general and regional anaesthesia, obstetric services including epidural/spinal anaesthesia. This position will also participate in the out of hours on call roster that covers the Hospital.
