Gastroenterologist New Zealand

The Hospital is seeking a specialist gastroenterologist to join Northland DHB. This is a full-time permanent position (1 FTE) with no on call or general medicine duties. The Hospital is the largest hospital in the region, providing secondary care services for the region supported by three district hospitals in Kaitaia; Bay of Islands and Dargaville. The region covers an area of 12,600 square kilometres and has a growing population of more than 190,000. Following a recent development of our endoscopy facilities, we have an exciting opportunity for a second gastroenterologist to assist us in growing our progressive department and enabling a sustainable model for the management of gastrointestinal disease. The collegial relationships between departments are strong. We encourage self-development and are willing to offer a session weekly to achieve your sub-specialty interests. This could include time to develop new skills such as ERCP, advanced polyp removal and develop a research interest. This role is predominantly based in the main hospital with opportunities to conduct gastroenterology outpatient clinics and procedures within our rural hospitals. We are looking for a motivated team player to bring their enthusiasm to teach and commitment to improving and developing services to meet our population need. To be considered you must have or be eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand, in an Internal Medicine scope of practice. Ideally you will possess FRACP or an equivalent qualification; however we are open to hearing from advanced trainees nearing completion of their training.
